Kraft vs. White Paper Bags: Which Suits Your Brand?

28 June 2026 · 4 min read · VP Ventures, Edmonton

It's the first decision every bag order makes, and it's less about taste than about your artwork: kraft flatters bold, simple marks; white carries colour and detail. Here's the practical breakdown.

Choose kraft when the brand is warm, natural, or minimal

Natural kraft reads as craft, honesty, and eco — before any ink touches it. One-colour logos (black, white, or a deep brand colour) look intentional and expensive on kraft, which is why coffee shops, bakeries, and natural-product brands default to it.

Kraft is also the budget-friendly answer: the stock costs less and one-colour printing keeps runs economical at low quantities.

Choose white when colour accuracy matters

White stock is a true canvas: brand palettes, photography, gradients, and fine detail reproduce accurately. Cosmetics, fashion, and any brand with a precise colour identity should proof on white.

  • Kraft: café, bakery, natural products, one-colour logos, budget runs
  • White: cosmetics, fashion, colour-critical brands, full-colour artwork
  • Undecided: order a short run of each — low minimums make the A/B test cheap

The third option: both

Plenty of brands run kraft for daily takeout and white for gifting or premium purchases. Short runs make a two-tier bag program practical even for a single-location shop.
